Summary of this Book...
A Star Mother is a mortal woman who agrees to give the Sun a child to replace a Star that has died, thus keeping balance in the universe. In this story, Ceris miraculously survives the birthing of her Star instead of dying and going on to the Hereafter. This seeming impossibility begins a dangerous and emotional adventure as Ceris returns to earth alone as a "not quite mortal" to seek out her family. Along the way she discovers why she survived and struggles with her own anger and fear to decide how to live her life as a Star Mother.
This type of Book is good for...
18+ mothers, family ties, mythology of the earth, sun, and moon.
I especially liked... | ||
The way Ceris as a playful trickster in her childhood grows into Ceris as a world-smart woman who thinks for herself. She also becomes stronger and fierce when she has a daughter Star to live for.
I didn't like... | ||
I saw Ceris experiencing emotional upheavals throughout, but I didn't experience them with her, which left the story wanting for me.
I don't recommend this Book because...
I wasn't emotionally drawn into the story, but kept reading because the plot was interesting.
Further Comments... | ||
The story had enough twists and turns to keep me interested. If you're a mother, you might find it more emotionally fulfilling than I did.
