Summary of this Audible Books & Originals...
Jesse Itzler "wanted to shake things up in a big way" so he hired a Navy SEAL.. and not just any SEAL but one cited as the toughest man alive... to be his live-in trainer. I'm sure SEAL wasn't going for humor but Jesse's account of their time together is both hilarious and awe inspiring. Jesse himself is hilarious to me and I knew he was an athlete but SEAL pushed him further than he'd ever gone before and further than I imagined he'd be capable of. I totally enjoyed this book, despite the extensive swearing.
This type of Audible Books & Originals is good for...
People who want to be entertained, to laugh, to learn about a seriously tough training program, to know more about Jesse Itzler and Sarah Blakely (his wife) and SEAL (David Goggins - I believe his name was kept secret per the book's contract but he eventually wrote his own book and the world learned that his name was David Goggins. I haven't read it yet, but his book is titled "Can't Hurt Me," and I expect that it will be less funny but more inspiring than this one).
I especially liked... | ||
That Jesse read the book himself. His personality and sense of humor really made the book a lot better than I think it would have been if anyone else read it. I enjoyed the book greatly, for the humor and the lessons. I admired SEAL's physical and mental strength and endurance and that Jesse dedicated himself to thoroughly to SEAL's training program.
I didn't like... | ||
So much swearing. I know it's the authentic thing for this story but it was a lot.

The n/a of this Audible Books & Originals...
" Jesse Itzler only eats fruit 'til noon, loves Run-D.M.C., and enjoys living life "out of the box." In fact, he doesn't even have a box. The author of the New York Times bestseller, Living with a SEAL, cofounded Marquis Jet, the world's largest private jet card company which he and his partner sold to Berkshire Hathaway/NetJets. Jesse then partnered with Zico coconut water, which he and his partner sold to The Coca-Cola Company. He's a former rapper on MTV and wrote and performed the NBA's Emmy Award-winning "I Love This Game" music campaign and the popular New York Knicks anthem "Go NY Go." When he's not running ultra-marathons, eating vegan food or being a dad to his four kids, Jesse can be found at the NBA's Atlanta Hawks games, where he's an owner of the team. He is married to Spanx founder Sara Blakely. --This text refers to the paperback edition." from Amazon.

I bought the book because I wanted to listen to it at my own pace (vs having to return it to the library in a couple weeks).
