Summary of this Book...
From the book's Amazon page: " INSTANT #1 NEW YORK TIMES BESTSELLER "This book will change lives." --Elizabeth Gilbert, author of Eat, Pray, Love From the host of the award-winning MarieTV and The Marie Forleo Podcast, an indispensable handbook for becoming the creative force of your own life. While most self-help books offer quick fixes, Everything is Figureoutable will retrain your brain to think more creatively and positively in the face of setbacks. In the words of Cheryl Strayed, it's "a must-read for anyone who wants to face their fears, fulfill their dreams, and find a better way forward." If you're having trouble solving a problem or reaching a dream, the problem isn't you. It's that you haven't yet installed the one belief that changes everything. Marie's mom once told her, "Nothing in life is that complicated. You can do whatever you set your mind to if you roll up your sleeves. Everything is figureoutable." Whether you want to leave a dead end job, break an addiction, learn to dance, heal a relationship, or grow a business, Everything is Figureoutable will show you how. You'll learn: The habit that makes it 42% more likely you'll achieve your goals. How to overcome a lack of time and money. How to deal with criticism and imposter syndrome. It's more than just a fun phrase to say. It's a philosophy of relentless optimism. A mindset. A mantra. A conviction. Most important, it's about to make you unstoppable."

I recommend this Book because...
It was a mostly positive, encouraging read.
I don't recommend this Book because...
Unless I missed something, it doesn't actually show you how to solve problems. Just convinces you that you can.
Further Comments... | ||
I enjoyed reading this book. I subscribed to Marie Forleo's YouTube Channel but I don't think I've actually watched one of her videos yet. I love the idea of this book and it was a quick, fun and uplifting read for me. It didn't really contribute anything new to what I know about mindset or how to figure out / solve problems. But I liked her personal stories and lingo. "Everything is figureoutable" is easy to remember and a good catch phrase if you need the reminder. She does point out that there are certain things beyond our figuring out at this time (curing cancer, for example), but we can still figure out how to best deal with the situations we are going through. I'd probably re-read this book if I felt like I needed a mental pep talk for being able to figure things out. I own my copy of this book and my library has it. Maybe your library has it too. This version is 304 pages long and is a First Edition (published on September 10, 2019). So, if you're participating in the Book Brothel at WDC, it's more than the minimal required 250 pages for a month. And if you're participating in Rach's Reading Challenge, it can count for January (published in the last 10 years), or May (written by someone from North America), July (your choice month), and September (she was a dancer and talks about fitness dancing especially in multiple places in the book - the topic is the arts and I think dancing counts). You can't put one book in all the categories, of course, but you can pick which category you want to place it. Rachel is really cool like that.
