Laura Ingalls is finds herself as a young girl growing up in the Wisconsin woods. It starts in the late fall. Pa goes out to hunt. Meat has to be smoked. Bears and wolves roam the area. Winters are harsh, and spring can be busy with harvesting sap from the maple trees. Summer is a time for visiting.

It's really an honest look at pioneer living, if you want to get a flavor of what it was like to live in the pioneer days.

I liked the part about collecting maple syrup. I thought it was interesting.

I wanted to watch the series "Little House on the Prairie," to see the book come to life.

It's geared for children. It's an easy to read book and easy to understanding. Laura is a very curious characters and readers will be just as curious as her as the story goes on.

The text copyright goes back to 1932 and I believe that's when the book was first published. It's a very informative read and perfect for 2nd-4th graders to challenge their reading skills. The illustrations are well done.
