This novel centres on two women: Beth, a therapist with a young son and soon-to-be ex husband, and Danielle, her client who has signed up for couples counselling with her partner Peter.

Right off the bat, I was unsure about Danielle. She seemed creepy, and there were times I thought she was going to harm Beth's son.

Although she has signed up for couples counselling, she goes alone to see Beth for some time. It adds to the feeling that something isn't quite 'right' with her.

As the book moves along, Beth starts to seem a little unhinged. We learn that she had a breakdown a few years ago, after losing her job as a teacher following a complaint from a member of the public. She starts to imagine things happening, to imagine she is being followed, and we wonder whether, in fact, it is Danielle who needs to fear her, and not the other way around.

Danielle's mother comes into the book part way through. She is about to be released from prison, where she has spent time for killing her husband (and Danielle's father) in a purposely-lit fire. She is dangerous. Once she is released, it's hard to trust her.

By the end of the book, we get a few plot twists what, mostly, you can see coming. But there are a couple of wonderful surprises.

People who like psychological suspense novels. The suspense really is first class.

The suspense. The ending is fab. I love the resolution, and the twists leading up to it are fab.

Nothing really.

Filled with suspense. On the edge-of-my-seat. Like I couldn't put the books down.
