Exceptional! A stunning page-turner! This is a story of family connections, about the need to know one's heritage in order to have a sense of who one is. This is a book about digging through the past for family stories that will answer questions in the present. It's about the choices we make in life, and the life we make for ourselves because of those choices. This book very creatively explored the events of the past, showing how the present was influenced by those events. I was glued to the pages and had a hard time putting this book down, completing the reading in one sitting.

I liked how the past and the present became intertwined. The characters were real, they were so well developed. I especially liked Evelyn's ingenious plan that she carried out, and solved two problems at once.

I felt a lot emotions while reading this book. I felt angry with Evelyn's husband, who didn't care about what he was doing to her. I was so happy when Evelyn carried out her plan; I cheered. I was excited for the Abigail (in the present) for what she uncovered, while searching for her father.

I recommend this book. It is full of exciting incidence. It will keep you engaged.
