Summary of this Book...
I don't know why this book is classified under "horror," to me it was a good book with some fun in it, however painful for the main character. Especially the main character reminded of someone I knew who was a hypochondriac, although the main character here isn't a hypochondriac. He is just somebody with bad luck to whom pain, bodily or otherwise, keeps happening. In this way, the story touches the theme in the Biblical story of Job and the name of the main character is also Job. Job, the main character is just a person who suffers, but the suffering is mostly realistic, although a bit of the supernatural is woven into the story, which, to me, felt so normal. I guess that alone says something about the craft of this author. Plus, I found his story-telling to be very entertaining and literary-wise inspiring. After Job, the second important character is Father Harry and I couldn't help but really like him. I won't go into the plot and other areas in the story that appealed to me as well, but I'll just say that the story had enough twists and surprises in it to keep me reading.
This type of Book is good for...
seeing how a Biblical character could be revived as a main modern character in a modern story.
I especially liked... | ||
the author's storytelling and the way he built up the plot
The n/a of this Book... | ||
is Dean Skinner. "Dean is from Bridgeport, West Virginia and resides in Cleveland, Ohio with his wife, two children and giant, fluffy Sheepadoodle. He has had his artwork displayed in prominent exhibits throughout Cleveland and in the UK and is also a published author of supernatural thrillers."
I recommend this Book because...
I had fun reading it. If you are not a fan of curse words, though, he has a way of using them a bit too often, but to me, they were in good taste.
Further Comments... | ||
After this book, I ordered this author's two other books, Paths and Broken. What I posted here is not an ad for this author. I don't know anything about him and I have never been in touch with him. This review is what I really think after reading Healing.
