Bill Bryson is an American who makes his living by travelling around the world-and then makes the world laugh out loud by writing about his adventures. Both educational and humourous, Notes from a Small Island is a great way to tour the U.K. without leaving your home (and if you are touring the U.K. this is a great guide book). Keep in mind that it is a novel-not a travel guide per se.
