"Angela's Ashes" is Frank McCourt's recollection of his childhood in New York City and Limerick, Ireland. His story contains much of the stuff of a sad Irish ballad -- death, poverty, the whole bit -- but also contains a great deal of wit and a talent for weaving a story all at the same time.

McCourt's lyricism, which of course can only be described as purely Irish.

To laugh, to shout, to cry, to comfort ... I could go on!

Very deeply connected to my "roots", so to speak -- I am of Irish descent myself. And very fortunate for the things I've been blessed with in life.
