The varied events in the lives of Joyce and Harvey in 1990. They had housing problems and eventually bought a house. Joyce attended a Peace Conference, and kept in touch with some of the kids she met there. Harvey found that a lump in his groin wasn't going away, instead it was getting bigger. Joyce went to visit some of her new friends in Israel - about the time Saddam Hussein invaded Kuwait. Harvey finally went to a doctor about the lump, and had to have surgery. He then chose the fast (and harsh) course of chemotherapy.

The honest way the story was told. The good and the bad were all portrayed - things that did work out well, and the many things that didn't; the good moods and the bad; the side effects of the treatment and the cheering things that happened along the way.

It was hard to work out the sequences of the pictures on some pages - it just took a little more study to work it out.

Look up some of the authors' other comics.

A little more aware of what those with serious illness have to go through, and how quite ordinary, fallible people can win through difficult situations.

The authors worked with the artist, Frank Stack, who did a brilliant job of illustrating the story, conveying the actions and moods effectively.

It tells, in a very readable way, what many people have to go through.
