Summary of this Book...
At thirty-six, Quoyle, a third-rate newspaperman, is wrenched violently out of his workaday life when his two-timing wife meets her just desserts. He retreats with his two daughters to his ancestral home on the starkly beautiful Newfoundland coast, where a rich cast of local characters all play a part in Quoyle’s struggle to reclaim in life. As three generations of his family cobble up new lives, Quoyle confronts his own privet demons—and the unpredictable forces of nature and society—and begins to see the possibility of love without pain or misery.
I especially liked... | ||
I liked that it took place in Newfoundland, and the atmosphere was rather like where I live—Nova Scotia. It also had some art with it.
I didn't like... | ||
The story line was raw, boring. There was a ton of conversation between the people he worked with that meant absolutely nothing and added absolutely nothing to the story. Just about every sentence was a fragment, which was at some times cool, and other times really rather annoying. You didn’t get to know the characters well at all, and I hated the people he worked with just because they went on about nothing…
When I finished reading this Book I wanted to...
Well, I couldn’t WAIT to finish it, and get started on something else. When I finished, I wanted to move on to new authors.
