For a lonely little girl, a new friendship can be wonderful . . . and very dangerous.



Molly doesn't like her step-sister, Heather. She feels that she's a whiny little brat bent on getting her and her brother, Michael, in trouble. Her step-father, Dave, gives nothing but sympathy to his "poor daughter" who lost her real mother in a mysterious fire when she was two.



The family moves into an old country church in Maryland, and it's there that Heather befriends a girl in the cemetery named Helen, who died in a fire over a hundred years before. Molly learns that Helen's ghost is known to befriend children so to lure them into the pond to drown, but Heather won't listen . . .
