Summary of this Book...
A mass disapperence in a small town called Snowfield, in California. The story follows a group of people: a doctor, her little sister, the Sheriff of the neighboring town and his deputies, and at times, a large number of police and government officials (scientists, investigators).
I especially liked...
The way the author kept me turning pages throughout the book...things so scary that you have to see the resolve...and all you want to do is find out what is going on.
I didn't like...
How the reader actually learns the grusome details of why these disapperences occur (there are references to the Mayan civilizations and the Roanoke Island Colony, as well as others)...introducing something that one wouldn't even theorize and just seems over-done. However, in some ways, you come to think of, 'well, what else would cause this?'
When I finished reading this Book I wanted to...
Think about good and evil...reasons for certain things beyond human control.
This Book made me feel...
Horrified; surprised.
The author of this Book...
Wrote this very well. I have the new edition of the book, with an afterword from Koontz himself. He said he's got some of the best reviews from this book, but it was one of the biggest mistakes of his life, seeing as it labeled him as a horror writer; which he never wanted to be.
I recommend this Book because...
It's a page turner; with a subtle love story and frightning twists. A great read.
I don't recommend this Book because...
If you don't like horror stories, this isn't for you. I'm not one for them either, but this was pretty good.
