Summary of this Book...
Young Wynne is now an orphan holding her family's estate together until her brother is of an age to take over. Then, when things look bleak, Madoc comes into her life, a powerful and enigmatic man, who knows what Wynne really is... then when things start to look up, Wynne takes it into her head to do something she was told not to, and gets into BIG trouble, well, let's say things get interesting.
I especially liked... | ||
Wow. The historical research that went into this. The whole reincarnation part is wonderful-- it is based off a Welsh legend.
I didn't like... | ||
A few scenes drag for a little bit, and there could have been more tention in others... but it worked out nicely (and I like to split hairs) Too short!! The last chapter (before the epilogue) made me cry, it was so depressing, although the epilogue did comeback and save it.
When I finished reading this Book I wanted to...
Do research and write. Daydream that I knew Madoc's wisdom. Owned a castle in Wales
This Book made me feel...
Well, depends on the chapter... the love scenes were enthralling, as usual. The flow and charactor development are good, and I enjoy her writing.
The author of this Book...
In my opinion, a great authoress. She inspires me to daydream and write historical pieces. If you love the Tudor/Elizabethan period, Checkout the Skye O'Malley series, Blaze Wyndham and The Spitfire(which really touched me *sniff*)
I recommend this Book because...
If you like Medieval historical romantic fiction you will enjoy this. Her descriptions are enthralling and thurough.
I don't recommend this Book because...
If:: You can't handle steamy sex scenes... Are biased against paganism of anykind... Don't care/want to learn about reincarnation...
Further Comments... | ||
All in all, my favorite all time Bertrice Small book. First read it in High School, lent the copy to a friend and never saw it again (grrr) . Got a new one, and I read it once a year, because the love that springs from Wynne and Madoc is just so awe inspiring to me. I really appreciate Mrs. Small's writing style, her descriptive talents and eye for historical detail.
