This book is a scientific explanation of how nature works. It is not a book about how to write poetry, but how to explain and explore the world in which we live. The material is presented so that even the abstract poet can understand the concrete universe.

I especially enjoyed the chapter on atomism, as the author traces the atom back to Democritus, an Ionian philosopher of the fifth century.

I can't think of anything that I didn't like in this book.

When I finished reading this book, I wanted to write poetry.

This book made me feel like asking more questions about philosophy, nature and politics.

Robert M. March is Professor of Physics at the University of Wisconsin, Madison.

I recommend this book because it presents difficult, concrete solutions to me; an abstract thinker.
