Summary of this Book...
the continuation of the story of William Fylbrigge. Without spoiling the plot of the first book, William Fylbrigge escapes the horror that became his life and turns to the new world of Port Edin in what is now Nova Scotia. His memories gone, his body a grotesque ruin, his mind is still active and he earns his living as William "Philbrick," a simple woodwright who has his ingenious inventions and a son named Seany. But a simple trip into the woods turns into a deadly mistake when Will is left for dead by his companions. Raiders destroy the village and send his family packing back for Scotland. William must regain his memories and fight his way back to his family and his home.
I especially liked... | ||
that the hero is a disabled person who has used his wit and intelligence to compensate for the disabilities. Confined to a wheelchair (his chariot), Will discovers the use of water to make his lathe and wood shop run. He devises pulleys and weights to make a "magic closet" that lifts him from floor to floor. The character is strong, even in his disability. He's far more strong than the physically capable characters. I also liked that this isn't a sequel per se, but a stand alone book that continues along. This is a great story.
When I finished reading this Book I wanted to...
find another one by this author. Hopefully, she'll be putting a new one out soon.
The author of this Book...
is one talented lady, full of suprises at every turn. She never disappoints and never fails to entertain.
I recommend this Book because...
Once again, the plot is excellent and intricate. The characters are fully defined and multi-dimensional. The villains are just so deliciously evil and vicious.
