Ah, yes, The Phantom Tollbooth. This is definately one of those classics that everyone has already read or should read. Even though it's directed towards a young audience (I read this book when I was in third grade), anyone can enjoy this book, especially if they have a deep appreciation for a play on words.

The story is about a young boy named Milo. Like many young boys, Milo is bored. Very bored. And unlike most young boys, Milo finds a strange tollbooth in his room. He drives through the tollbooth in his toy car and finds himself in a world full of some very, very odd characters. I won't spoil any of the plot, because it's better to let the plot unfold while you read than to know parts of it beforehand. =)

If you ever find yourself bored like Milo, I suggest you pick up this book. And, if you happen to be a teacher, this is a wonderful book to read to students.

The author, Norton Juster, does a wonderful job of entertaining the readers with an interesting plot and hillariously odd characters. And the illustrator, Jules Feiffer, makes the book that much more complete with the black and white photos of characters and scenes.

The entire book is one big play on words, which makes it even more enjoyable to read. I bet that Shakespeare would've enjoyed this one. =)

Anyway, I have only good things to say about this book, which is why it deserves a perfect score. Anyone who hasn't read it is missing out on a wonderful story, so I highly recommend it!
