Glad that I was not born before I was. Though I may sometimes feel that things are not fair to me due to my sex, I can see from reading this book that I'm a long way from being oppressed.

Eve Merriam (editor) is a well known poet and author.

It's nice to hear from women of the past. I've read a lot of histories and biographies, but not nearly enough from the women's point of view. There's a very big difference between the way men saw things historically and the way women saw them.

This book has very nice pictures of many of the women who's writings are contained within.
