The newest of Stephanie Laurens' Historical Romances set in Regency England. The first of a new series "The Bastion Club".

A group of seven gentlemen purchase a house to have a place to escape the plotting of the grand dammes of the ton. Tristan Wemyss-our hero- is in charge of setting up this private club. He observes the Lady next door- Miss Leonora Carling- and the hunt is on.

The hunt, in Miss Laurens' stories, is a steamy description of Tristan and Leonora's budding romance. There is a mystery-of course- to move the plot along. Somebody is trying to break into Miss Carling's home and Tristan must stop the mystery man.

The characters and scenery are well written. But what Laurens' fans really come for is the romance. It's all there, in complete graphic detail.

I didn't enjoy this one as much as any of the Cynster novels- I'm hoping for better from the next installment.

A good steamy afternoon read.

I recommend anything that Miss Laurens has written. I've never been disappointed. Her ladies are smart and beautiful and the men are handsome and princely.

THought not her best work- still worth a read when you're in the mood for love.
