Summary of this DVD... | ||
"The Boondock Saints" follows the story of two Irish brothers, Connor and Murphy Magnuson, who are invoked by God to dispense of the evil that plagues the city of Boston and the rest of the world. As the body count builds, Agent Paul Smecker, a flamboyant homosexual FBI forensics expert, comes closer and closer to catching the two brothers, all the while conflicted about the morality of these killings.
This type of DVD is good for...
Anyone who likes a movie to make them laugh, cheer and ultimately think.
I especially liked... | ||
David Della Rocco as Rocco/The Funny Man, the unofficial third Bonndock Saint, is hilariously foul-mouthed and awkward. Willem Dafoe borders on genius with his deft and over-the-top portrayal of Agent Paul Smecker. The three local cops played by David Ferry, Bob Marley and Brian Mahoney are good for some minor laughs. Billy Connely is positively wicked as the mysterious assassin, Il Duce.
I didn't like... | ||
There was profound use of the f-word. I'm not sure it added to the comedy/drama of the story. It seemed to just be there to fill out the dialogue.
When I finished viewing this DVD I wanted to...
Tell everyone I knew about it. And I did.
This DVD made me feel...
Like Hollywood needs to look to the independent markey for future films.
The cast of this DVD... | ||
Connor Magnuson ... Sean Patrick Flanery Murphy Magnuson ... Norman Reedus Il Duce/The Duke ... Billy Connely Agent Paul Smecker ... Willem Dafoe Rocco/The Funny Man ... David Della Rocco Papa Joe Yakavetta ... Carlo Rota
I recommend this DVD because...
It's funny, action-packed and insightful.
I don't recommend this DVD because...
It's not for the faint of heart or prudish among us.
Further Comments... | ||
If you don't mind violence and foul language, see it before the studio backed sequel hits theaters.
