Summary of this Book...
This book is a guide for those who want to record their personal history but don't know where to begin or how to make their memory recall past events. It is written in four sections, each section corresponding to one of the four stages of life. About each stage of life, there are questions and exercises. The part for especially younger years could be useful for the older generation. I believe this book could also be used for character creation by the writers of fiction.
I especially liked... | ||
the questions. They bring to mind those things long- since-forgotten.
When I finished reading this Book I wanted to...
write my own personal history.
The author of this Book...
Linda Spence lives in Mill Valley, California. She studied English literature, education, nutrition, and stress management at Lake Forest College, University of Michigan and San Francisco State. She works as a business consultant and conductor of writing workshops. She assisted in developing tools that are being used for the Adolescent Risk Factor Study. She also collects legacy stories.
I recommend this Book because...
if one wants to capture memories and has not kept a journal through his life, there are key questions in this book that will make his recall easier.
Further Comments... | ||
As well as helping one to write his personal history and assisting writers in character development, this book is a valuable resource for families to use for preserving the life of a loved one (or oneself) if terminally ill. I found records of people who used the book and were very grateful for having done that. Linda Spence's own reason for writing this book was her mother who was dying from breast cancer and didn't know how or where to begin writing her life.
