The Butlerian Jihad was the beginning of the Empire of Dune as we now it. This was a summary of how it began.

Especially for Dune lovers.

The way they tied things to how it all began. Some subtle, some not.

The way the book ended. Although I know that the book was written by Frank Herbert's son, I didn't like the feel of the book.

For one, it didn't answer my true questions. Part of the book felt like it was a love story that had been influenced by too many Mills and Boons (no offence people).

Another, and this is the part that really irritates me: The research done here is not enough. Its' stale! Though I understand that the books were based on Frank Herbert's notes, it does not have the same depth and quality I would have expected from the Dune series. Granted, they are NOT Frank Herbert, but they could have put more effort into the series.

Wring Brian Herbert's neck! The Families saga (House Harkonnen, Atredeis (sp?) and Corrino) were better.

If you can't write it, Brian, DON'T! And I never liked Kevin J. Anderson anyway. However I didn't even realize it was him until AFTER I'd read the whole thing and saw the authors.

My gosh! Publish the notes Frank Herbert wrote before his death and let the fanfic authors have a go! They tend to be better than most 'celebrated' authors I know.

Unless you're a fanfic author. Then read it for the notes and on how NOT to write a sequel.

Recommend that you read the whole Dune Series before reading the prequels. You'll understand what I mean by the above.
