Summary of this DVD... | ||
Two Marines are accused of murdering a fellow Marine at their base at Guantanamo Bay, Cuba. They are set to be defended by a young lawyer who has wheeled and dealed his way through cases...never seeing them through in a courtroom. However, based on the case itself and the push of fellow litigators, this case appears in court. As a result, politics, morals, duties, and codes...loyalty and honor...are just a few of the issues brought to the table. Tom Cruise, Demi Moore, Kevin Pollak, Jack Nicholson, Keifer Sutherland, and Kevin Bacon bring this amazing story to a tremendous level. It's entertaining, thought-provoking, and gripping...intelligent and humorous. Simply, impressive.
This type of DVD is good for...
I was exposed to this movie in my competitive speech class and through my speech coach. It's a great movie and DVD to have when teaching the importance and usefulness of good, persuasive communication and argument skills.
I especially liked... | ||
The amazing dialog. Aaron Sorkin did a wonderful job with this screenplay. Words are the most powerful thing about this movie; they are written and expressed very well.
I didn't like... | ||
I love the story. The movie is great. The only complaint about this DVD is that it only has a widescreen format. Until I get a widescreen TV, I have to remain unhappy without a fullscreen...something that can annoy the heck out of me.
When I finished viewing this DVD I wanted to...
Watch some scenes again. The words between Cruise and Nicholson at the end of the movie are priceless ("You can't handle the truth!").
The cast of this DVD... | ||
Did spectacular. They added a great amount of power, passion, intelligence, humor, and strength to this script. It's a great story, but this movie is great because of some amazing performances from everyone involved. Well done!
I recommend this DVD because...
It makes you think...it pushes some intellectual limits for some, and it gives us look at several different issues. It also is a terrific example of wonderful communication skills that can be very useful.
I don't recommend this DVD because...
If you hate widescreen on your full-screen TV, this may be a problem...
