Summary of this Book...
Crimes, capers and mayhem abound when eleven New England writers turn their talents to the art of the short story. Between the covers of this collection the reader will meet a pattle-scarred PI who repairs cars when she's not investigating murders, a Jamaicain cook who traffics with ghosts, and a Protean temp worker with a touch of larceny in her soul. Whether hard-boiled or humorous, eerie or evocative, these stories explore the dark side of human nature through a variety og genres--mystery, suspense, thriller and horror.
This type of Book is good for...
A great read for a dark rainy night.
I especially liked...
The broad spectrum of stories covering everything from the New England's long suffering relationship with their beloved Red Sox to the perils of hiring temp workers.
When I finished reading this Book I wanted to...
Keep reading more work by these authors
This Book made me feel...
Hungry for the upcoming collection (November 2004) which will be entitled Riptide...
The author of this Book...
The editors are all well known authors and editors. Kate Flora was the 2003 International President of Sistersin Crime and has published the Thea Kozak mysteries, Susan Oleskiw has published the Melligham mysteries and regularly reviews for The Drood Review of Mystery; Skye Alexander's first mystery novel, Hidden Agenda, won the Kiss of Death Award for best book of romantic suspense. She has published several nonfiction books on the occult.
I recommend this Book because...
It's a must read for anybody who loves to read about our darker impulses.
