Sonea is just walking by when she overhears a conversation about some past friends of hers. It involves a trap, and the city guard. This information is not something she can just ignore; she goes to find her past companions and warn them of trouble. But her efforts to prevent trouble only succeed in feeding it. In a demonstration of some negative feelings, she and her old gang throw rocks at some magicians. This is only a problem for Sonea, as the invisible wall protecting the magicians is penetrated by her rock... and she discovers within herself magical tallent. This is not the end of her troubles. The boy next to her is burned to death, in what Sonea can only assume to be retaliation. She flees for her life. But was the boy's death a simple mistake? Is it safe for Sonea to join the magicians when they offer? And will Sonea survive to do so? Because there is another thing about magic... the untaught user tends to die and kill everything about if he or she is left that way. | ||
