Micheal Stirling loved Francesca from the moment he met her. There was just one problem- she was marrying Micheal's cousin. Now the cousin is dead and Micheal is the Earl. He still loves Francesca- but can he ever forgive himself for loving his cousin's wife? Can Francesca accept that life and love do go on? Well conceived and executed- "When He Was Wicked" is an enjoyable read. Well worth your time.

The maturity and depth of emotion that was explored in this novel. I actually cried for Francesca- repeatedly!

There was perhaps to much self-doubt in the middle of the book- causing me to wonder when the story would move on.

Julia Quinn- an acknowledged wit in the Historical Romance genre. She stretched herself in this one- staying away from straight humor and dancing with the darker emotions.

A satisfying addition to the Bridgerton series. Each member of the family is firmly their own character- nice to see in extended family series. You do not have to start at the beginning of the series to enjoy any book in it.
