Summary of this Book...
Jenny McCarthy tells a very frank and candid view of Mommyhood during the first year. She covers many topics; everything from childbirth and cesarian to stroller envy.
This type of Book is good for...
This book is good for those who need to get a peek into mommyhood and get a good laugh while doing so.
I especially liked... | ||
I liked that Jenny didn't cushion any blows and also gave first time Mommy advice. I also liked that the book wasn't incredibly long (making it possible for me to read it in one evening after putting my own 2-month old to bed) and didn't read like an owner's manual for babies.
I didn't like... | ||
There wasn't anything I didn't like.
When I finished reading this Book I wanted to...
I wanted my husband to read the last chapter of the book - tips for the husband. And I made him read it!
This Book made me feel...
It made me feel empowered to know that pretty much every woman who becomes a mother goes through trials and tribulations - some having it worse than others.
The author of this Book...
The author of this book has a wonderful sense of humor and brings child rearing into a new light through that humor.
I recommend this Book because...
I recommend this book for anyone who wants a peek into Mommyhood and the many things that can happen along the way.
I don't recommend this Book because...
I don't recommend this book if your own sense of humor isn't able to handle the frank and candid manner in which Jenny presents Mommyhood.
Further Comments... | ||
I noticed in a few other reviews of this book on Amazon.com that a couple of women were bashing Jenny because she chose to circumcize her son. There is a chapter in the book in which Jenny discusses the reasons why she decided to circumcize Evan, and those choices are her own. Not everyone may agree with some of the views she presents in this book. If you follow her advice in a later chapter, being a Mommy means following advice sometimes, but also deferring to your own Mommy instincts when you feel it necessary. Anyone who reads this book should walk away knowing that everything expressed in this book are her views alone and that you should form your own based upon your own experiences.
