What to Expect is a parent's manual for common issues that come up during the first year of an infant's life.

This type of book is a great reference manaul. It has a very detailed index so that a new parent, who doesn't have time to read 800+ pages all at once, can look up topics as the need arises.

I especially liked that it covered any possible question a new parent might have, and also had a small primer in the beginning to explain as much as possible about having a newborn and being a first time parent.

I didn't like that it reads like an owner's manual for a baby.

I wanted to keep it at my bedside, just in case I thought of another question.

It made me feel more comfortable to know I had a resource onhand and wouldn't have to resort to calling my pediatrician 500 times a day for questions that have quick and simple answers.

The authors of this book wrote a wonderful guide to parenting and baby rearing.

I recommend this book for first-time parents to keep handy for simple questions about how much to feed a baby, when to introduce certain toys to a baby, and anything a parent can possibly ask about raising a baby.

I don't recommend this book if you already know what you're doing.
