The next to the last book in the Gunslinger Series, Song of Susannah starts to wind it to an end. It picks up where Wolves of the Calla left off, and takes you on another of Roland and company's adventures. This one involves finding and saving Susannah Dean and also obtaining the vacant lot wherein the special rose grows. It ends in the usual Stephen King manner, with a cliffhanger.

It's great to read, if you've already been following the story. While Stephen King does a good job letting this book stand on its own, it really is a better read if you've already experienced the first five books.

I especially liked that he somehow ties in other books. From The Stand to 'Salem's Lot. I knew there was a much greater reason and need to read these other novels.

I really didn't care for the way the book ended. I was disappointed, because of all of them, the ending of this one felt the weakest. While it does a good job leaving me craving the next and final book, it just sort of fell flat at the same time. This is partly because if one opens the book to the last page, without intending to know the ending, it hits you smack dab in between the eyes, anyhow.

I wanted to go get the next book, but at the same time was terrified to. I've been following this series for many years now, and I won't know what to do when there aren't any more Dark Tower books left to read.

It sucked me in from page one and took me on an adventure I could never experience on my own.

The author of this book is the master of suspense, and reaffirms that title as he leads you through the book. Even with the chapter prior to the ending (because I honestly felt like the last chapter was just stupid).

I recommend this book because it's the next on the path to the end of the clearing. It continues the tale. It tells a wonderful story.

I don't recommend this book if you haven't read the others. Please read them! Everything makes much more sense that way.
