Escape to Hemlock Falls, the colorful little town in upstate New York where the Quilliam sisters own the Hemlock Inn and solve murders. Sarah Quilliam, called Quill, a famous artist with little time for painting, runs the Inn in her own quirky way. Her sister Meg, a temperamental three-star chef, runs the kitchen. The Inn and the town are full of rather eccentric recurring characters and guests who sometimes get murdered. Or do murder.

As Fried by Jury begins Meg Quilliam would rather eat a rat than judge a deep fried contest, and soon a celebrity guest chef is murdered leads Quill to follow clues, including a butcher knife a little too close to the kitchen of hot-tempered Meg.

Claudia Bishop’s Hemlock Falls series are a quick fun read, and each one includes a recipe from the Inn.
