Parents who wish to raise healthy children should definitely read this book. The information on school lunches, advertising impacts and obesity are just a few of the reasons Fast Food Nation should be a maternity room give-away. Any individual who would like to know what they are really eating will find ample proof in this well-written work. Journalism students who question the relevance of research or investigative reporting need look no further than Schlosser's writing for affirmation of its worth.

Schlosser's chapter on the fragrance industry was one of my favorites. It was both revelation and comfortable read, drawing the links between childhood memories, comfort foods and the perfume industry.

Reading this book practically turned me into a vegetarian. Sclosser's chapters on the meat industry alone have made me swear off fast food.

I felt angry at the injustice of lives injured or disrupted by this industry, yet I also felt hopeful as more individuals learn the truth through the writing of author's like Sclosser. The book ends on a high note that provides room for optimism.

Eric Sclosser is a well-respected journalist and an excellent writer. He takes his work seriously and does a fine job at research. He has the creative gift of melding facts with engrossing writing.

Fast Food Nation puts a spotlight on an industry which affects our health, our economy, our environment, our politics and our children. It is easy to read and hard to put down.

You do not have to be an activist to enjoy reading Sclosser's work, but do not be surprised if once enlightened to the extent of fast food's reach, you find it easier to become more proactive with your food intake.
