Summary of this DVD... | ||
David, a 12 years old boy who has grown in a communist prison camp in Bulgaria must scape and travel to Greece, by ship to Italy, then to Switzerland to finally arrive at Denmark (your heard that right) to meet his mother.
This type of DVD is good for...
Understanding refugee and traumatized boys. A must for prospective adoptee parents of children from 'not so nice' countries.
I especially liked... | ||
The way it accurately depicts children who have been traumatized.
I didn't like... | ||
Some of the events are pretty unlikely.
When I finished viewing this DVD I wanted to...
Keep my resolution to be a salesian priest :)
This DVD made me feel...
Sad yet hopeful. | ||
The cast of this DVD... | ||
Ben Tiber, the actory playing David is simply outstanding. Only very unoften you see sucha a masterful acting in some a young boy.
I recommend this DVD because...
The sheer strenght of this story, the way it so deeply conveys a message of hope and resilience. The message it gives of trusting even in a world which is often hostile. Essentially the boy has to unlearn his 'Trust no one' so deeply 'taught' in the prison camp and learn to trust people or else be doomed in his own untrust. The whole movie was shooted in Bulgaria, and man after seeing this movie I'd travel there at the first opportunity. It's incredible how diverse and enthralling a so small country can be.
Further Comments... | ||
I have to rate this DVD 13+ because of the strict writing.com rating system guidelines which mandate it when there is any reference to violence. This is a rating system I disagree with, though, because sometimes it makes no sense, like in this case. Or even in most Disney movies, but I disgress. If you'd ask me, I think children above 10 should have no problems watching this movie. It's rated PG, which I think makes more sense.
