Thoreau's philosophy really appealed to me. His ideas of personal guidance and responsibility sat well and provoked contemplation on my part. Mixed with his superb writing, it was an interesting read.

This book inspired me to write more and expand the nature of the things I write about. The imagery in the Walden Pond descriptions inspired my poetry, while his thoughts on civil disobedience inspired me to explore my own relations with responsibility and government.

Whether you are a student writer, historian, or philosopher, this book is worth every word. It is interesting, stimulating, incredibly beautiful, and thought provoking.
