Interweaving stories from the bible, history, Greek and Roman mythology, alchemy and his own imagination, Paulo Coelho tells a delightful story of a boy's quest and a great teacher.

I really enjoyed how bits of legends and truths were bound together. It made the story so much more believable and the characters very real to the reader. The illustrations, by Moebius, of Alien, Tron, Willow, The Abyss, and The Fifth Element fame, are gorgeous and fit perfectly with the narrative.

After reading the book, I wanted to recommend it to everyone, not only as a delightful story but also because of some of the great spiritual truths that are woven within its pages.

Paulo Coelho is an acclaimed writer from Brazil. He fills his characters with such detail you feel as if you have seen them in your neighborhood and heard them in the crowd.
