Summary of this Book...
Remeber "The Stand"? Okay, picture that with cell phones. The civilized world comes to a sudden end and a small band of survivors have to go against an evil entity that has risen from the ashes yada yada yada. Oh and guess what? It takes place in Maine! Go figure, huh?
This type of Book is good for...
Stephen King fans who are looking for a quick fix. It's relatively short as far as King books are concerned. I don't think it's going to impress non-fans however.
I especially liked... | ||
The basic premise. The idea that society could be undone so easily by our own technology.
I didn't like... | ||
I didn't like the fact that I felt like I'd read this book a couple of times already. Stephen King has given me many, many hours of reading enjoyment but it really does feel like he's phoning (pardon the pun!) this one in. It has suprisingly weak characterizations, which is odd because that is undoubtedly one of King's strongest points as an author.
When I finished reading this Book I wanted to...
Read "The Stand" again.
This Book made me feel...
Uneasy to pick up a cell phone, that is the truth. So in that respect, you can call it a success.
The author of this Book...
Made more money off this one novel than I'll ever see in my lifetime.
I don't recommend this Book because...
While "Cell" is not a BAD book by any means, I really wouldnt recommend it. Steven King has written many books that are much better than this. Seriously, if you haven't yet, get yourself the unabridged version of "The Stand" and read that.
Further Comments... | ||
Other King books I'd recommend? "The Shining", "Christine", "Misery" and "Bag Of Bones".
