Battlefield 2142 is the newest addition to the famed Battlefield franchise. Ever since Battlefield 1942's demo was available this creative series has had one of the biggest fan bases of all times. As with all its predecessors Battlefield 2142 is mainly an online game though they have a small single player section.

In Battlefield 2142 you join the fight in the middle of the second Ice Age in the Mediterranean area. Two factions are facing of to win their people the last remaining land. These factions are the EU, consisting of the United States, Britain, and Germany, versus the PAC, consisting of Russia, the Middle-East, and China.

As you would expect there are over 15 starting weapons and lots more futuristic gear. Now that may not
be a lot but as you progress through the 43 ranks, starting from Recruit to Supreme Commander, you can unlock over 40 weapons and equipment like an Anti-Vehicle Rifle and Active Cameoflauge. You can also
obtain over 100 awards such as badges, medals, pins, and ribbons to help you progress in rank.

There are 4 unique classes. First is Recon, which
is basically a sniper and special ops combined. This class is useful for long range target elimination, scouting and sabotage, he starts out with a sniper rifle, pistol, and knife. Next is Assault, which is Assault and Medic mixed. Assault is useful for urban
combat, and healing and reviving teammates, he starts out with an Assault rifle, pistol, knife, and a medical
hub. Third is Engineer, this guy specializes in destroying and repairing vehicles. Engineers are outfitted with an Anti-Tank rocket, Sub-Machine gun, knife, and a repair tool. Last is Support, who is good
at defending spots, and supporting teammates. He starts with a Light Machine Gun, pistol, knife, and an ammo hub.

In battlefield teamwork is a big thing so you get to have a chain of command in game it goes Commander-->
Squad Leader-->Squad Member. Commander mode, there is one and only one commander per round. You must apply for it and you get special abilities such as EMP strikes, Orbital Strikes, ordering Squad Leaders around, and Satellite Scans. Squad Leaders order their squad of up to 6 soldiers and there are special unlocks just for them. Then you have squad members who are the basic grunts who follow orders from their superiors.

The vehicles as in all battlefields are great though there are fewer of them then usual. They range from Jet fighters to APCs with launch pods and hover-tanks to the famed Battle-walker. Everything has their strengths and weaknesses like Jeeps are fast but lightly armored while Tanks are heavily armored but very slow.

There are three game modes for Battlefield 2142. Returning is Co-op which is where you team up with other human players and fight against computer-controlled enemies. Another game mode is the series' life line, Conquest, where you go around and capture multiple command posts displayed as flags.

Then you have the new and much hyped up mode Titan mode. A Titan is a massive floating Battleship that you must destroy to win. In Titan mode you first go around and capture Missile Silos much like conquest to take down the enemy Titan's shields. Once those are down you must get onto it, unless you want to go through the longer process of destroying it with the missiles. Now you're probably asking how do you get up to this flying Battleship there are many ways , two of them are landing an aircraft on top of it or launching out of an assault pod in an APC to get up top. Once inside you must destroy two control consoles on the bottom floor then two consoles on the top floor. When this is complete the Titans core will become exposed, destroy the core to destroy the titan. Its not over yet you then have to run to get off the Titan before it explodes giving you a pin for completing that.

Overall this game has many new features and depth to it then its predecessors but it also has a new feel and I would highly recommend it to anyone who likes First-Person shooters, Sci-Fi, or anything having to do with the Military. It is available now at most stores that sell video games.

People who like tactical, futuristic and action full First Person Shooters. It also serves as a futuristic flight sim, tank sim, and so on.

The 40 unlocks. They added much more depth to this great game and including some interesting things like player abilities such as more stamina etc.

The occasional EA server disconnects, they don't happen often but when they do its pretty annoying.

Like I was playing something completely new and like I was really fighting in the year 2142.

Is Electronic Arts(EA) who is not known for their customer support but their games are great.

It is extremely fun and very entertaining.

This may be the best FPS to hit the market. Of course that is my opinion but I highly recommend you try it out.

And if you think you wont like it then try the demo out even though there is no ranks or unlocks in the demo.
