Summary of this Book...
This is the third book in the Tillerman series by Cynthia Voigt. I have not read the first two, and it's not necessary. You see, the first two are about Dicey Tillerman. This one's about Jeff, who doesn't meet Dicey until near the end of the book. Jeff's had a hard time of it. The book opens with his mother's abandonment and him having to adjust to life with his cold father. Then, through the course of two summer visits, we start to see that he's better off without his mother and that all his father needed was some encouragement. The two grow so close that nothing can tear them apart.
I especially liked... | |||
The way my attitude toward Jeff's mother and father flip-flopped through the novel. I wanted his mom to be the "good guy" but after some good shifts, I realized his father was spectacular all along. I eat that kind of stuff up.
I didn't like... | |||
How some parts of the book were rushed and the way Voigt would really build something up, then seem to forget about it. It was really frustrating and I kept feeling like I was being left out of the story. Some of that may be information contained in the first two books, but it's hard for me to think I can use that excuse on the parts that came before we meet Dicey, who is the main character of the first two books.
