Summary of this Book...
This story is about a Historian and his daughter in which he himself is telling her a story of his past. It is mainly a narrative on the daughter's part. The whole story is about Vlad Dracula and the history surrounding his life, and death.
This type of Book is good for...
anyone who loves a heavy read. One can tell by reading this book that there was a large amount of research done when writing it. It is supposed to be based on facts from a story that was told to a daughter by her father.
I especially liked... | ||
the way the author went into detail about each and eveery city that her and her father visited. I think it gave me, as a reader, the pleasure of imagination throughout the entire book. (And it wasn't that hard to imagine because she did a wonderful job in describing each and every tiny detail)
I didn't like... | ||
how at times, the author did tend to drone on and there were a couple of sore spots in which you can get a little confused. I read the book in spurts though, and if I were reading it pretty much straight through, that may have been different.
When I finished reading this Book I wanted to...
recommend it to my reading friends. Which is what I did. So far, out of all of my recommendations, only one wasn't that thrilled. All in all, they also enjoyed the book with it's historical value.
This Book made me feel...
gripped. I wanted to continue reading this book every chance that I had. It kept me compelled to read more. I wanted to know what was going to happen with each turn of the page. Unfortunately, I have to work and have a life so my reading was a little sporatic. I still want to sit down and read it again without so many distactions and a little more time on my hands. (Which basically means, that will never happen, haha!)
The author of this Book...
is a great writer. I really look forward to reading some of her works. I just happened to stumble upon this one while attending a library book sale. The author has a tremendous talent for detail, history , and facts.
I recommend this Book because...
it is interesting. I learned a lot of things from reading The Historian. I even looked up some of the things in the book and did further research of my own.
I don't recommend this Book because...
if you like a book that gets you in and out quickly, this book is not for you. If you are not into historical rading, I wouldn't recommend reading this book. Also, if you, as a reader do not like a lot of detail, this book is not for you.
Further Comments... | ||
I really enjoyed this book from beginning to end. I only hope that the author continues to write and put out such arvelous works.
