Everything, from cover to cover. Oh, to be specific: build-you-own patterns for staples of the knitting world. The table of knitting needle sizes - she's right there's a million copies floating around but who can find one when you need it? Here it is on page 56 (I used it today.) The lack of judgement on types of needles, fibers, and objects. The index is great too.

It ended. It's only 224 pages.

Knit, knit and knit some more. Actually I've used the sock section so many times to create hybrid socks (cuff of one pattern, heel flap to toe from this book) that those pages might fall out.

Like I can knit anything without a pattern.

Is a hilarious, kind woman. I read her blog yarnharlot.com every chance I get. Her humor and passion for pretty string helps keep me grounded. I’ll buy any book of hers sight unseen.

Those that think of knitting as some quiet task performed by grandmothers will be shocked by this book. Just about everything you need to know about knitting is in here, with a great deal of down-to-earth, anything goes humor. Grab some Barbara Walkers, and this book...you're good to go on your knitting adventure.

I still don't know where I fit in on the Obession Level Test.

Obession Level Tests and How to Spot another Knitter in Public test aside, this is one great reference book. It's small enough for your knitting bag (this copy lives in mine), with a huge dose of just about everything you might need to know about knitting. Experienced knitters might even learn something (I did).
