Summary of this Book...
This is the story of Stuart Hadley who works as a salesman in the 1950's. He discovers that he is depressed about life in general; work, his wife, everything. Stuart comes across a radical revival group that he goes to on a whim with two of his closest friends. Though his wife and his boss are not sure what Stuart wants with his life, his sister knows how to handle Stuart and plays a big role in a lot of what happens between him and his wife. The story takes a turn as Stuart discovers who he really is and what life has in story for him next.
This type of Book is good for...
This type of book is good for wanting to read something that is different from the Science Fiction writing Philip K Dick has done. It allows you to think of how your own life maybe if you had the feeling of being 'stuck' in what you were doing day after day. It allows the reader to really reflect on how they chose to live their life.
I especially liked... | ||
I really liked that it was a lot different than most of what Philip K Dick had written. It allowed me to be able to see if a different style of writing would be just as good as his Science Fiction writing. The struggle with Stuart was fascinating and it drew me in to see how he would end up.
I didn't like... | ||
If you are a hardcore Philip K Dick fan as I am, you at first maybe disappointed in reading this book. It does not take the same liberties as his Science Fiction stories.
When I finished reading this Book I wanted to...
When I finished reading this book, I wanted to place it on my bookshelve with my other collection of Philip K Dick stories. I found it was worth picking up and reading it.
This Book made me feel...
This book made me feel like I was able to look at my own life and see what I felt was wrong or good about it. It gave me a sense of feeling whole, like I had just wrote a diary entry explaining my feelings about life in general.
The author of this Book...
Philip K Dick as always is an amazing storyteller. He was able to craft these characters into something that made them real to the reader. Being one of his earlier works not published before, it was nice to see a different perspective from an author so cherished.
I recommend this Book because...
I recommend this book because it shows how a person goes through life and the struggles it entails. It is worth reading to take a glance into something that you may not have seen before from this author.
