The book is about the dilemna of a young girl starting out on her career. She has to choose between the quickest route to success and following her heart. Initially, she chooses former and is doing pretty good. But circumstances make her realize that it is not worth sacrificing her family and friends.

The character sketch of Miranda Priestly. Her successful career, her devotion to her daughters, her love for her second husband, her professionalism all gel together very well. Despite all this, I hope I never have her as my boss. The way she treats her assistants contributes to the humour in the book.

It is humorous and many of the readers will be able to relate to this book. They may have had bosses like Miranda and may not realize that the other way to realize their dreams may be an uphill task but may give more satisfaction.
