Summary of this Book...
The story centers on an enigmatic vigilante called the Sinner. He shows up out of the blue to rescue people from desperate situations or kill those who abuse others. There's just one catch: he's been around since the Civil War. C.K. Ivors and her crack team of investigators are out to find out who this guy really is, how he doesn't die, and why he saves some and kills others. Along the way C.K. discovers some unpleasant truths about herself, how she sees God, and her own family's history.
This type of Book is good for...
It's good for those who don't like intricate, complicated plots. But don't read this one if you didn't like "The Da Vinci Code". It's in the same mold in several ways.
I especially liked...
The only one character I liked remotely was the Sinner. But the author killed off the only character that had any real depth!
I didn't like...
Where do I begin? The ridiculous names of the characters; like Junebug Collins, Rebel, James Dandy, and Chance. They were unlikable, one-dimensioned, and not at all convincing.
When I finished reading this Book I wanted to...
Throw it at the wall! It was AWFUL! It didn't even have a good ending. It's a ripoff of better novels, like Dan Brown's "The Da Vinci Code" or Neil Gaiman's "Anansi Boys".
This Book made me feel...
Like I could have written something better than this painful effort of a novel.
The author of this Book...
Sharon Carter Rogers may be a sincerely gifted woman. But she needs to really work on plot devices, foreshadowing, and character developement.
I recommend this Book because...
I wouldn't recommend it to anyone except those who like rapidly written, shallowly plotted novels.
I don't recommend this Book because...
It's a waste of time reading it.
Further Comments...
The journel segments are confusing. It's like someone put parts of an actual good plot and threw them into a blender and pushed puree. The end result? Partly beautiful poetry, disconnected historic material, and not enough of the character himself.
