Summary of this Book...
Twenty-one years have passed since Anakin Skywalker redeemed himself aboard the Death Star, by killing his former master Emperor Palpatine, and much has changed in the Star Wars galaxy. The New Republic, formed from the Rebel Alliance after the re-capture of Coruscant from the Empire, has asserted it's authority over much of the old Empire, finally bringing an age of relative peace to the galaxy. A new Jedi Order has arisen to uphold the peace, led by none other than Jedi Master Luke Skywalker, who trains his new found apprentices at his fledgling Jedi Academy. The Empire, now officially the Imperial Remnant and commanded by Grand Admiral Gilead Pelleaon, has made peace with their old enemies. Former Chief-of-State of the New Republic, Leia Organa Solo now acts as diplomat and emissary to embattled or disturbed systems. In an effort to avoid a disastrous civil-war, she travels to the planets Rhommamool-Ossarian, accompanied by her daughter Jaina and her sister-in-law Mara Jade Skywalker. In this place she meets Nom Anor, a mysterious figure who resist Leia's diplomatic negotiations. And, more terrifying, neither of the three Jedi women can feel him through the force. Events are in motion that will change the face of the Star Wars galaxy forever. New enemies arise, new dangers present themselves, and startling new truths will come to pass that will not only shatter families... but an entire government, and galaxy.
This type of Book is good for...
Any Star Wars fan who wishes to go beyond the "Empire vs Republic", "Jedi vs Sith" aspect of the genre. A thoroughly enjoyable read, but a little knowledge of the Star Wars Expanded Universe (beyond Return of the Jedi) is required.
I especially liked... | ||
How the author (R. A. Salvatore) was unafraid to take risks with the established, "immortal" main characters. Not to spoil too much, but one of the best loved SW characters is killed off in this book.
I didn't like... | ||
Maybe there was a little pang of resentment when the character was killed off...
When I finished reading this Book I wanted to...
Read the next in the series, Dark Tide 1: Onslaught.
This Book made me feel...
Really excited about the new characters/species introduced, and a little sad at the loss of one of the established characters.
The author of this Book...
Should have written more in the series!!
I recommend this Book because...
I loved it. 'nuff said. | ||
I don't recommend this Book because...
There is no reason I wouldn't recommend this book!
