It's the 1870-1890's and Trent Walker, a white and US Calvery soldier makes friends with Indian, Blazing Star. The two struggle to keep their friendship alive even during trying times. At one point, Blazing Star tortures Trent because he thinks Trent has killed his wife. Later on in the book, white cav soldiers torture Blazing Star. The book ends with their children defining their own relationships. There's room for a sequel.

I think there was a lot of research done and I think it's historically accuate.

This book is the first in a long, sweeping family saga.

Well, (blushes) if anything, I thought there were several phrases that were repeative like "Apollo-like Ogalala."

It was an interesting read. It was certainly as aspect of history I hadn't explored before.

Was very knowledgable in the topic. She had a passion for the story which the reader could feel.

It covers an interesting time in American history that is glossed over in school.

It really is the start of a family saga. It's a good opening, but very graphic in places and I would recommend it for a mature reader.
