Summary of this Book...
Lauren Stillwell’s life was falling apart. The man she married and loved with all her heart was having an affair. It was devastating, but the devastation turned to anger and then to thoughts of revenge. She would give Paul a taste of his own medicine. A one-night-stand, sex with no strings attached, wouldn’t put it back together but it would assuage her wounded ego. Lauren’s night of passion took an unexpected turn when she witnessed her lover’s murder from the window of his apartment. Her husband must truly love her if he was willing to kill to keep her. Appointed the lead detective in the investigation into her lover’s death, Lauren had to deal with her guilt, cover up the evidence that would lead to her husband, and accept some painful truths about her lover, her husband, and herself. When I first started reading Quickie, I was tempted to put it down. I expect a suspense novel to be fraught with villains and murderers, but there was always hope, someone to root for. In Quickie, James Patterson gave us a murderous husband who killed without a lick of remorse, a police detective willing to tamper with evidence, and a lover that played the part of a bachelor, but was really married and the father of three small children. I couldn’t root for any of them. I kept reading and before long I was hooked. The story was fast paced with unexpected twists and turns on every page. I couldn’t put it down. It was an easy read and not all the believable, but definitely entertaining.
