Summary of this Book...
This book is an incredible tale of the author's journey out of drug addiction. James Frey suffered with a terrible drug addiction since he was a child. His addictions progressed into using crack cocaine and drinking himself into constant blackouts. "A Million Little Pieces" begins with Frey waking up battered and bloodied on a plane. He has no idea how he got there or where he was going. The book goes on through his parents putting him into a treatment center and the healing begins. It's not long after he is admitted that he finds out that one more drug or one more drink WILL kill him. It's a long hard battle through the book as he finds a friend in Leonard (a mob boss with a cocaine addiction) and love in a black haired blue eyed crack addict named Lily.

I'm afraid that if I say much more, I'll give the story away. Just know that my words here really don't give enough credit to Mr. Frey and this inspiring book.
This type of Book is good for...
People who have or had a drug or alcohol addiction. Or people who like the read books written from an author's own experiance.
I especially liked...
Near the begining of the book there is a scene where James has to go get a root canal and get he teeth fixed. The problem is since he is in treatment for alcohol and drugs, he can't have any sort of anestetic. The decriptions of the process he went through made me cringe and I could actually feel pain in my jaw from the amazing imagery put into this story.

I didn't like...
At first, I didn't like the fact that there had to be romance in the story. I felt it just didn't fit and was merely a way to sell the book. But, around the end of the story I realized what an important role Lily played, and found myself crying as he fought so hard to be her savior.

And the characters start to get a little confusing as people come in and out of the treatment center. I'm not good with names so I had to pay real close attention to who was who.

When I finished reading this Book I wanted to...
I cried. I cried for hours. And then I rushed out to the libary to get "My Friend Leonard" which is the follow up after "A Million Little Pieces".
This Book made me feel...
humble. I realized that with my own history of drug addiction and the path I was going down, I could've ended up just like James. But, I was lucky.
The author of this Book...
is an amazing man. I would be so honored to meet him some day.
I recommend this Book because...
I beleive any book that can make someone laugh out loud or cry out loud is worth reading. It made me do both.
