An early elementary science course presented from a Christian perspective. Those who employ the Charlotte Mason method within their homeschool will most likely enjoy this book.

I liked the recipes and hands-on activities/experiments. I also liked the abundance of vocabulary presented in each unit.

The book is recommended for grades 3 to 6, however, I found the book to be more along grades 1 to 3 skill level. I didn't feel the units provided enough "meat" for upper elementary grades. My 5th grader became somewhat bored with it, and I was equally unimpressed. I found myself constantly at the library checking out supplemental living books and/or DVDs to enrich the material. While this in itself is not a bad thing, for the price of the book I expected more in-depth material. I was also disappointed with the reproducibles in the back of the book. Because the book is rather large and doesn't lay flat, it is nearly impossible to make a good clear copy of worksheet pages.

Sell it on eBay.

I do think this course is well-suitable for children in lower elementary grades. I'm sure they will enjoy the experiments and coloring pages, as well as brief reading passages from the parent.

I do not think the course is in-depth enough to provide a solid one year study for upper elementary homeschool students on its own. However, if the parent does not mind finding suitable supplemental material to coincide with this book, then older children should enjoy the course as well.
