This is one of Michael Crichton's few non-fiction works. The memoir takes the reader through the real life travels of the author. Each chapter deals with another geographic location, but many of his journeys are inward as well as outward. According to the back jacket, "It is a record of his quest across the familiar and exotic frontiers of the outer world, and a determined odyssey into the unfathomable, spiritual depths of the inner world."

All Michael Crichton fans will love this book, as well as readers with a sense of adventure and a willingness to be open-minded when spirituality is discussed.

I, too, have traveled to other countries often overlooked by the typical vacation brochure, and reading about Crichton's adventures brought to mind many of my own. I enjoyed very much the second half of the book that dealt with inner journeys.

Sadly, Michael Crichton passed away last month after battling cancer, but he will always be remembered for his wonderful books, including The Andromeda Strain, Jurassic Park, Congo, and The Great Train Robbery to name a few.

It is an intelligent, humorous and adventure-filled book that is sure to entertain.
