Indie film "Savages," starring Philip Seymour Hoffman and Laura Linney, follows the story of a brother and sister who suddenly learn that they must care for their father who had abandoned them as children.

Although the awkward, strained relationship between the father and his children cannot be repaired because of the father's dementia, the story portrays the possibility for this intellectual pair to heal the scars, through one another, as they struggle to forgive their father, with the hopes of finding peace.

Both Philip Seymour Hoffman and Laura Linney give superb performances.

This movie explores the human condition through the struggles of a family tragedy.
