This is our generation of Robin Hood! And I love it.

Yet another of my BBC Treasures, this Robin Hood takes a very real Robin and his mate Much from being at the top of their game to the forest as outlaws when they take a stand against the very evil and unethical Sheriff of Nottingham and his henchman (the deliciously wicked handsome Richard Armitage).

This series goes through the forming of the Robin Hood Group, and of the several atrocities that occurred during those times, and often the lords got away with those very inhuman practices.

This is a good BBC series. The actions is good (although the first couple do a Matrix like action series that is distracting, but they get rid of it by about the third), and very real. The swords and costumes are historically accurate. The problems, loves, hates, and issues that are portrayed in the plot are very likely to have happened at that time in real life.

This is not just a superhero story. This is also a coming of age story. This is a story about real people trying to make a difference. This is a story about lonely people damning their conscience as they try to make something of themselves. This is a very good story about real people in real life trying to make a living!

Period drama lovers. Action lovers. TV series lovers. Anyone who likes to see the bad guy get it in the end over and again.

The characters cast here are not the skinny types that are like in the Sarah O'conner series.

Lucy Griffiths is a real girl with real curves and she is strong, fit and a force to be reckoned with who saves the poor herself and isn't likely to be a damsel in distress just for the heck of it.

Jonas Armstrong is Robin Hood, a slightly more vain, very cocky, confident and smart Hood who needs to grow up even as he is fighting for life and limb. Good portrayl of a real man trying to make life work again after a bloody war in the Middle East.

I also liked the obvious (to me) parallels between the Nottingham of that time and the world we live in today. Look for them when you watch!
